"Das PIRATEx Team hat uns bei unserem 1. Douglas Retail Media Summit begleitet.
No cue cards, please.
A great host is invisible. They let the guests shine. They rescue awkward pauses. And they ask the questions the audience is already thinking.
The bridge to the
audience.
Nothing is worse than a host who loves the sound of their own voice. We understand hosting as a service. To the speaker. To the subject. And above all, to the audience.
Journalistic
We do not scratch the surface. We dig deeper. Anyone sitting on our panel needs to have something to say.
Quick-witted
Tech fails? Speaker is late? No problem. We improvise without losing the thread.
Authentic
We do not pretend. We are who we are. Real people who enjoy communication.
Reading the room.
A host must sense when the energy in the room shifts. When a question runs too long. When it is time for a joke (and when it is not). You cannot memorise that. It is experience.

Was unsere Kunden sagen.
Questions about Event Hosting
How do you prepare as hosts?
Intensely and meticulously. We read the briefings, speak with speakers in advance, understand the subject matter, and know the goal of the event. We do not just want to pronounce names correctly — we want to ask the right questions.
Do you host in German and English?
Yes, fluent in both languages. No Denglish, no unusual accents. For mixed international audiences we can also use code-switching to address groups directly.
Do you also write scripts or speaker introductions?
Gladly. We help with the dramaturgy, speaker intros, and transitions between sessions. But we do not read from a script. Everything we write, we deliver freely and with our own voice.
What happens if a speaker cancels or the technology fails?
We improvise. This is not an edge case — it is standard. A good host is the buffer between planning and reality. We know the programme well enough to fill gaps, moderate pauses, and keep the audience engaged until the issue is resolved.
Is external hosting suitable for internal events and all-hands?
Yes, and often even better than an internal host. An external host has no hierarchy anxiety, can ask uncomfortable questions, and creates a more neutral atmosphere. For critical transformation or feedback formats, external hosting is a clear advantage.
